Matthew 21:33-43, 45-46

The parable alludes to the rejection of the prophets and ultimately of Jesus. It is directed to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they know it, but they also know to bide their time because of Jesus’ reputation with the people.

There are times when it is fitting to stand against those who reject you, and there are times when we can do nothing but pray for them, remembering always that the stone rejected became the cornerstone.
