Matthew 5:20-26

Jesus goes deep unpacking the meaning of the Commandments. His teaching of the law and the prophets is far more radical than the scribes’ understanding. He tells them, for example, that there are steps that lead to murder and that, since anger is the root of the sin, it is sin in and of itself. This is the first of the six antitheses.

There are times when I am not even aware of the anger I hold within until I unexpectedly lash out at another. Be with me as I reach into my heart and soul to reflect, recognize, examine, and reconcile.
